Jesuits have been engaged in teaching, research and scholarly publication almost since the foundation of the Society. From astronomy to classical ballet, from the humanities to theology, Jesuits try to discover, shape, renew and promote human wisdom.
The educational apostolate of the Society has been greatly enriched by the contributions made by centres of non-formal education, established in both rural and urban areas. They educate their students as "men and women for others" who can assume leadership roles in their own communities.
