Fr. Paul Jackson, Jesuit Islamic Scholar Honoured

Islamic Studies Associaion (ISA) had its Managing Committee meeting at Saint Xavier’s Jesuit Residence, Shahbad-Daulatpur on 25th August. The ISA members honored Fr. Paul Jackson SJ for his 50 golden years in the Society of Jesus and his marked contribution to Christian Muslim Dialogue. His untiring efforts to render the spiritual wealth found in the Persian texts of Sharafuddin Maneri in English is a great service to the mission of Christian Muslim relationship. On the occasion ISA presented him with a beautiful memento which carried the following words of appreciation:

“For his commitment to the mission of understanding and communicating the core message of Sufi spirituality. For his readiness to enter into the spirituality of the Sufi saint Sharafuddin Maneri and for bringing his treasures to a wider audience through the translations of his works. For his efforts to open up the spirit of Islam to the whole world. For so effectively applying Discernment to everyday encounters between Muslims and non-Muslims. For his engagement with Muslims and non-Muslims both at the intellectual and heart level. For inspiring the younger generation to take up the mission of inter-religious dialogue…”
