January 27 was a special day for St. Ignatius Loyola parish,
Ambadi Road. On that day we had the Sacrament of Confirmation
administered to thirty-eight of our Junior College students.
After seven months of regular Sunday faith-formation sessions,
the 'confirmandi' were well-prepared to receive the Sacrament.
The four animators of the Confirmation students, together with
Fr Kenneth D’Souza did a very good job of training the
youngsters. This year was special, since for the first time we
had the entire service in the new church premises. This
certainly added to the solemnity of the occasion.
Rev. Thomas Dabre, Bishop of Vasai Diocese administered the
sacrament. He also preached a very good homily exhorting the
youngsters to find and take their rightful place in the
church, as also to help in their own way in the building up of
the church. Both parents, and students, appreciated the
well-prepared liturgy, in which the students were the main
participants. All in all it was a memorable occasion. A
special word of thanks must be given to the Parish Priest, Fr.
Joe D’Abreo SJ for his encouragement and support in making the
function a success.
