Father Cedric Prakash SJ is the coordinator of the
Human Rights, Justice and Peace Commission in the Indian
Province of Gujarat. In 2001 he founded the Prashant Institute
for the promotion of integral social development. In
recognition of “a life dedicated to the promotion of
human rights in India, the President of France has bestowed on
him the title of Chevalier of theLegion d’Honneur.
The award was conferred at a cere-mony on July 14 at the
French Embassy in New Delhi.
